SVG File - basic mime type syntax

The SVG file format is supported natively by recent versions of Firefox, Opera and Safari. A plug-in is required for Internet Explorer versions before IE 9 beta - the Adobe plugin works with the basic syntax, though you must use the correct <param> elements.

You may want to make your <object> fallback contain a suitable alternative (e.g. static image) or a link to the Adobe plugin, though Adobe do not offer support for the plugin any more and it was last updated in 2005.

Note: the server must be configured to deliver the correct content headers for some browsers to recognise the format correctly. Configuration information can be found on Jonathan Watt's SVG Authoring Guidelines website.
